Save Brighton and Hove's green fringe!

We the undersigned petition Brighton & Hove Council to 1. Halt plans to develop all greenfield sites in Brighton and Hove's city fringe. Remove these sites from CPP2. 2. Engage in talks with the inhabitants of Coldean ARC to discuss the issues related to the development of site 21. 3. Instate a client nature in all planning decisions to represent the needs of the environment.

This petition has come around after the creation of the Coldean ARC: "protesters are occupying the trees in Coldean in the corner of site 21 to demonstrate against the destruction of an ancient woodland site for housing, and call greater attention to the threat of development posed to priceless greenfield sites all across the fringe of Brighton and Hove city."

The council must stop approving planning permission on incomplete plans! (as they did in Coldean despite uproar from the local community). Stop ignoring the voices of local communities and choosing development over the needs of local people and the environment.

Tax empty properties and redact unused planning on brownfield - to protect greenfield from housing number demands!

Protected and safe guarded the social and ecological value of the land surrounding site 21 in Coldean. The council must lead in facilitating a healthy relationship and conversation between local people, planning and client nature.

Brighton’s minimum housing target of 13,200 additional homes is achievable developing only the brownfield sites listed in City Plan 2. If we do not take a stand more precious wildlife sites will be lost unnecessarily, this is our land, it does not need to be destroyed. Nature deserves better.
