South Portslade Parking Consultation
As previously highlighted through ePetition parking for Residents in South Portslade has reached breaking point. In particular (for this ePetition) on Links Road, The Gardens, Garden Close, Southdown Avenue and Beaconsfield Road which until the recent residents parking meeting were excluded from the overall South Portslade discussion.
Portslade Station is a busy commuter station and each morning many parking spaces are taken up by those looking for free parking close by. This has a major impact on available parking for residents without driveways throughout the day with limitations occurring from 07.00 through to after 18.00.
In addition, Victoria Road has a number of large businesses
attracting multiple visitors to their sites during working hours.
This increases the already present pressure for Residents to park
during the working day.
Parking in these street eases post 18.00 when businesses tend to
close.
The extension of the West Hove resident's parking zone will only increase the pressure.
This petition is being undertaken to request a resident parking
scheme for the South Portslade area, to allow those who live here
to have the right to park at least one vehicle near to where they
live. We thank you for reviewing this petition and considering it
for action.
This ePetition ran from 20/02/2018 to 25/06/2018 and has now finished.

Council response
Response provided at the Environment, Transport & Sustainability Committee on 26 June 2018:
'Thank you for your petition and the views expressed at the
recent public meeting at the Portslade Community Centre clearly
outline the problems you are encountering and I do appreciate the
issues in the South Portslade area.
It was agreed through a priority timetable agreed at this Committee
last October that the South Portslade area would be consulted from
Autumn 2019.
A further report is planned later in 2018 to outline and discuss
the extent of the consultation area and the Officer recommendations
will be based on the views of the residents in your area and your
petition today will also be taken into consideration'.
