Minutes:

21.1    2 Officers gave a brief overview of the Youth Service. The following was stated:

 

·         It was stated that HRA contributed to a percentage of the overall fund due to many services being relevant to old and young residents.

·         £125,000 was being requested for a 6-month extension.

·         An officer outlined the objectives and aims of the Hangleton & Knoll Project.

21.2    Members of the youth groups attended the panel and gave testimony to their experience and perspective. The following was stated:

 

·         There were various opportunities provided for young people.

·         Examples were provided regarding the various activities that were enjoyed.

·         Young people were willing to meet other groups in different wards.

21.3    Residents had the following enquiries, statements and concerns:

·         A resident enquired as to the lack of other 3rd sector voluntary groups.

·         It was enquired if the group required a subscription.

·         It was enquired it there were any works taking place in Hollingdean.

·         An opportunity to link in with the residential association was offered.

·         A further offer for the group to attend a resident group meeting for the possible acquisition of funding for other programs through the Healthy Neighbourhood Fund was made.

·         Residents enquired of the number of people who attended the Coldean Youth Group and if there was room for more.

21.4    Councillor Wares proposed that some young people become ambassadors for Youth Groups.

 

21.5    Officers responded to residents’ statements, concerns and enquiries with the following:

 

·         The proposal of youth ambassadors would be looked at.

·         Nothing had yet been set in Hollingdean yet though there were possible projects were being considered.

·         The positive aspect of engaging with residents with regard to consultation for funding in future was considered.

·         It was stated that a buddy scheme also be considered.

·         A basic financial breakdown till 2021 was given.

21.6    AGREED – that the report be noted.
