Decision:

(1)       That the Cabinet Member for Environment notes the emerging proposals that are being developed to improve Woodingdean Crossroads.

 

(2)       That the Cabinet Member for Environment agrees to the inclusion of an appropriate level of  funding in the 2009/10 Local Transport Plan capital programme to enable consultation and construction of the Woodingdean crossroads scheme.

 

(3)       That the Cabinet Member for Environment authorises the Director of Environment to finalise the engineering design for the junction and to report the outcome of that work to the May 2009 Environment Cabinet Member Meeting for further consideration.

Minutes:

127.1         The Cabinet Member considered a report from the Director of Environment concerning proposals to address road safety issues at Woodingdean crossroads (for copy see minute book).

 

127.2         In response to queries from Councillor Davey the Assistant Director for Sustainable Transport explained that Woodingdean crossroads remained a priority as it was one of 26 high risk casualty reduction sites in the city. The proposals would be funded from a number of budget headings in the Local Transport Plan.

 

127.3         RESOLVED - That having considered the information and the reasons set out in the report, the Cabinet Member accepted the following recommendations:

 

(1)       That the emerging proposals that are being developed to improve Woodingdean Crossroads be noted.

 

(2)       That the inclusion of an appropriate level of  funding in the 2009/10 Local Transport Plan capital programme to enable consultation and construction of the Woodingdean crossroads scheme be agreed.

 

(3)       That the Director of Environment be authorised to finalise the engineering design for the junction and to report the outcome of that work to the May 2009 Environment Cabinet Member Meeting for further consideration.
